S06E01 The Birthday

Dec 03 2012

Posted by:

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. It has been a while and here is almost 2/3rds of a VMH for your enjoyment. I hope you like it. In this episode we have a couple firsts. Enjoy the tantalizing tales of food! Salivate over the interview where ABaum definitely has fewer morals than his unshakable interviewee! Then do some other pretty normal stuff.

In this very special episode we can hear:
One Hundred Dollars – My Father’s House
Myelin Sheaths – Do the Mental Twist
R. Stevie Moore – Dirty Woman
also,
Ding Ji – Some Chinese song
ABaum – *It’s a surprise (not you Quincey)*

breakith thine arms of flight, and deliver, unto thine libation box, a headless corpse. Yay, the head shall move. Yay the body shall twitch. And all shall be eaten after rightly basting in soysauce and grilled upon a shoukou. And thou shalt pay 35RMB.

Spinning Wafer Machine

Jun 22 2012

Here’s an oldie but a goodie. Not actually sure what this is called never asked and haven’t had luck searching it out online. Would be great built into some sort of dessert treat but on their own, an overwhelming task to eat.

Jianbing is the Right Thing…

Jun 20 2012

Posted by:

…to eat for breakfast. Or any time of the day really. It’s just a delicious snack that the whole family will enjoy. Here we have a very intense conversation in Chinese. Roughly goes like this: “Do you want sauce?” “Want” “Hot?” “Want. Want this. Want this. Don’t want this.” “Four yuan.” A really rare and exciting chance to peep in on a proper conversation.

Oh and welcome back the return to HD!!!! That’s 720  progressively scanning lines of jianbing, people. Respect!

Who Tiao? Youtiao!

Jun 11 2012

Posted by:

Oh yeah. Don’t you just want to sink your teeth into some solidly oily strips of oily dough deep fried in oily oil?

Here we see some delightful youtiao. The breakfast bread stick commonly served with congee. The name means oil strip because of the greasy stains they leave in the toilet bowl.

A Lesson in Uighur BBQ

Apr 26 2012

Posted by:

The ancient art of barbecue is alive and well all over the world. This statement is rather unnecessary.

This succulent lamb is unnecessarily tasty. Imagine biting into a salty block of melt in your mouth fat exploding lamby flavour into your mouth. Now imagine that sensation wrapped in a flat bread that absorbs and enhances that salty fat flavour. Plus, it’s in a plastic bag so your hands don’t get all greasy!

Uighur people are a minority in China. They are Turkic and responsible for hash and the best food in China.

Oh yeah…and that next VMH is still on the way…

And here we can see the ancient art of carving noodles from a block of dough. Noodles are delicious in China. Possibly more delicious than in Italy. Take that, Berlusconi!

These dumplings were delicious. The lady was nervous. I was not impervious, to feeling scandalous.
