A Bread Flippin’ Good Time

In the well-travelled city of Mandalay, these guys are famous for their street side chapatis and curry. Well deserved bread flipping effects are noticeable. Can you hear them?

Stop 1 on the motorcycle tour up to Hsipaw in Shan territory. The food in Myanmar is some of the best I’ve had whilst travelling. I would say better than Thai food upon first experience. Since going back to Thailand, I’ve come to embrace their cuisine more but who knows what I’d find in Burma on a return visit.

Love the nonchalant flipping and flicking. Do you think they ever miss that silver bin? I saw the one guy dropped sheet of dough as he picked up a new one. Then it seemed as though he subtly picked it up, crumpled it, then dropped it to the ground. Maybe not as impressive as he’d like us to think!

Those knees must get pretty god damn hot god damn it. I suspect the cloth is quite thick which they drape around their waste. The symmetry of the squares makes the whole thing seem almost prefab factory food. The guys rolling things out in the back say otherwise tho.
